Film Title Designs.

With the help of a friend, I created a design for my film title, and this was the origional version. The font I used was to try and resemble bloodsplatter which is a convention of horror movies. Furthermore, the chains surrounding the title suggests icolation which is also a convention of horror movies.

This is the edited version of my film logo. To begin, i started by cleaning up some of the parts, for example a bit of the chain just under the "H" and stray parts above the title. I also gave it a red tint to further represent the blood effect.

Magazine Title Change

Due to the title "Acting Up" having more drama connotations, I had to change the name of it. I decided to change the title to "Motion Magazine" as that has a direct link with cinema.

Audiance Feedback to finished product.

From my audience feedback, I have learnt several things. To begin, several people who I asked for feedback expressed that they would have liked to see 2 male protagonists and 2 female protagonists instead of 3 males and 1 female. They said this as several believed one female character isn’t enough in a horror film. Everyone who I asked said they enjoyed the female protagonist, as they said it was something new and different in a horror film, breaking the conventions. I also asked them what they thought about my location. Most people liked the fact that I set it within a forest as due to people being more media literate they were able to understand for a forest was a conventional place for a horror movie to take place. When I questioned them about the song, most people said I shouldn’t have used a song and instead used smaller cuts of sound, one example given to my is using violins on a part where a character is being chanced down. Despite this, I stuck with using the music track as I believe that the track its self was suitable.

Re-shoot session.

Yesterday was my first and hopefully last re-shooting session. I filmed at the same place despite some minor changes to the scenery, but hardly noticeable for my needs. I also got some new shots involving an old war bunker and a used camp site which was left. The camp site was apart of my original plan but due to limited props I couldn't make it happen, so this was a very nice surprise.

I re-shot several scenes, such as Aaron up the tree which was satisfactory last time but had to do due to time limits. Furthermore, I re-shot the hug between Hannah and Ricky, adding a pan as Hannah goes to him for the hug to make the shot more effect which couldn't have been achived with a stationery shot which was what I used last time.

Overall I think this filming session was successful, getting several new shots and improved shots which will hopefully improve the quality of my Film Trailer.

Film Trailer - First Edit

Filming Session

Today me and my cast members went to Anlaby House in the wooded area and did my filming. Overall, I believe it went well. I got most of the shots which I needed to get following my shooting script, as well as some improvised shots. Furthermore, while out filming I had the idea to make it so you can only ever see the antagonist's feet. The antagonist wears black Doc Martin boots, so that is appropriate for a horror film.

My cast members were easy to work with, and helped me improve and come up with new ideas, and were all willing to do as they where told. Overall, a successful filming session, but with some shots and scenes still needed to be shot on another day.

Cast List

This is Hannah Blowers. She is one of the protagonists in my film trailer. As a part of the narrative she is in a relationship with one of the other protagonists. She is wearing her boyfriends jacket as a symbol of their relationship and is also wearing a scarf to represent what season it is. The type of dress also helps resemble youth, as the trailer is for a teen horror movie.

This is Adam Blaza, he is another one of the other protagonists in my film trailer. Again, wearing casuall clothing representing youth.

This is Aaron Hill, the third protagonist in my film trailer. Again, representing youth with his clothing.

This is Ricky Boreham, the fourth protagonist. He adds to the narrative by having a romantic relationship with Hannah.

This is Chantelle Foster, the only antagonist within my trailer. You only ever see her feet, in which she is wearing Doc Martin boots. This helps add mystery to my film trailer, as well as keeping the horror side of my trailer alive. I chose to have a female antagonist as that breaks the normal conventions of a horror trailer, and would attract maybe a different kind of audience.
